Club ‘shows’ its charitable side!

Rotary in Keighley & the Worth Valley was well represented at Keighley Show on Saturday, September 6th.
Not only was there a Rotary tombola stall which was raising funds for the Club to use to support local causes, such as The Women’s Refuge, the Salvation Army, its Young Musician Competition and the Club’s Community Grant Scheme, several members also supported the event by entering the Arts and Handicrafts Section of the Show.
The club was out in force with some 12 members, led by President Liz Joyce, taking it in turns to staff the tombola stall. The stall raised just over £1,000 which will be used by the Club to fund its activities in the community.
Immediate Past President Jim Staton won a joint first in the photography section, Past President Janet Pickles scored a first with an embroidery piece with member Paul Milling winning in the art section.
Wider members of the Rotary family also did well with show entries, the President’s husband, Mike, winning best in section in the art competition and Jim’s wife, Eleanor Jolley scoring well with two firsts and a second in the hard handicrafts section.
Rotary in Keighley & The Worth Valley puts service above self in serving the community not only on its own area but across the world.

Keighley Rotarians man the club’s stand at last weekend’s Keighley Show.
